One Train May Hide Another

I have been so frustrated today trying to get myself organized between work, school, a baby on the way, moving whew things get hectic. One Train May Hide Another by Kenneth Koch in a way screamed to me "HEY YOU SIT DOWN, RELAX AND TAKE THINGS ONE AT A TIME"! When I first looked at the poem I must say I thought to myself I don’t feel like reading this longggggggg poem but by the time I got to lines 6 and 7 "Wait until you have read the next line--Then it is safe to go on reading." they subliminally spoke to me.
I believe that this poem is a way for Koch who has obviously been through the trials and tribulations of life to reach younger generations. To let them know that you do not need to rush through life. There is no winning in rushing through things you'll end up loving the wrong person, being attacked by a dog or holding on to memories that will only hinder you from creating new ones. I'm sure he has made his mistakes in life and for him to take his time out to say:
"One doctor, one ecstasy, one illness, one woman, one man may hide another. Pause to let the first one pass. You think, now it is safe to cross and you are hit by the next one. It can be important to have waited at least a moment to see what was already there." is commendable.

Being able to listen to him recite the poem helps a lot. Like I said at a first glance you may be turned away from the reading because it’s so long so I would say read it once at least and then listen to it three or four times. It'll reach you :)

Check it out; let me know what you all think...
